THREE CROSSES I tell you the Truth,
Luke 23: Sometimes we forget that the crucifixion was not a man-orchestrated event. The entire sequence of incidents was not a thing of chance. The creator’s plans from the beginning of time were being played out as He desired. Every scene and every action were His will being done. With that in mind, it’s no simple chance that Jesus was crucified among common criminals – convicted felons, sentenced to die for their actions. A quick glance at the three crosses tells the story of all eternity. We see a man, blameless and sinless hanging between two men, guilty and condemned. The picture is one that encompasses all humanity and the decision that is there for all to consider. Jesus was crucified for the sins of all mankind. He paid the price for all sin, for all time, once and for all. There is no more payment to be made. These two criminals represent all mankind, including you and I. On one side, a sinner condemned to death hurls insults on the Son of God. He chastises Him and then dies in his disbelief. But on the other side, another sinner condemned to death finds truth in the man that hangs beside him. He recognizes his own sin, his need for a savior and makes the connection that his salvation must rest with this Jesus. And in the simplest terms, he professes his need to the only one who can fill it – “Remember me.” Jesus then gives the simple reply, “You will be with me.” We all have a choice. We’re all condemned. We’re all unworthy. We’re all hopeless. And we’re all posed with the simple question, “What do I do with this Jesus?” I’ve noticed that’s its never too late. One man gained eternal paradise in his last hours. One rejected it. When is your last hour? Do you know? Do you have twenty years to consider the question? Ten? Maybe only one? Or will your last hour come next month? Next week? Tomorrow? My prayer is that your last hour isn’t this hour. Unfortunately, I don’t know that and neither do you. If you’re wondering what to do with Jesus, God’s word tells us that today is the day of salvation. That’s good news. The bad news is that some will wait till tomorrow, which often never comes. Today is the day. Your Servant, <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< Prayer Requests (and Praises!)
“Randy, I would
appreciate it if you would put [my daughter] Tammi on your prayer chain. She
hurt her leg the middle of December and had surgery on 1/6. She had a blood
clot wrap around a nerve in the front of her leg and no one seems to know what
to do. We are taking her to DC to a nerve specialist tomorrow. Please pray
they can find the problem and fix it. She’s in terrible pain and has no feeling
in her foot at all. I have been staying over there with her each week until the
weekend and Tim takes over with the children to give me a break. Hope you are
all doing well, and may God bless you in your work for Him. Please reply if you have prayer requests, comments or simply need an open ear. I always enjoy hearing from you.
