IMPORTANT THINGS I tell you the Truth, A lot of young people call me coach. I’ve spent many years coaching little league baseball and softball. I’m about to take on the name of basketball coach this winter and recently coached my daughter’s elementary school volleyball team. I’ve grown to love coaching even though it can be a difficult task at times. As a coach, you’re job is to teach your kids how to become winners. When you win, it’s a joyful feeling. And when you loose, its heart breaking at times. As I mentioned, we recently finished our volleyball season. It was my first experience coaching volleyball and it was a very rewarding one. We ended the regular season undefeated. As tournament time approached, the word around the county was that Hollywood Elementary was the team to beat this year. We drew a bye in the first round of the tournament and easily won our second round game. As the county tournament began to play out, Shady Spring got beat who was also undefeated. As we often say, we were “sitting pretty” as we faced our third round opponent, Maxwell Hill. We had beaten this team twice in the regular season; however, this was also the team that won the county championship the year before – against us in the championship game. The game against Maxwell Hill was a battle and neither team deserved to loose. But one did. My Hollywood Panther girls suffered their only loose of the season that day, going overtime in the second game of the match. It was a heart-breaking, gut-wrenching defeat. To be honest, I’m still not over “what could have been.” After our loss, my daughter and I had to get back to church. We were both acting in Judgment House, a drama our church puts on at Halloween which God has used to reach many, many lost. Finally, my 11-year old daughter, Alyssa, and I made it home late, both exhausted from the long day. As I knelt down beside her bed I prayed with her trying to add some comfort for us both. I thanked God for the great volleyball season we just experienced even with the loss, for the abilities that He has given us and for the safety He provided us through the season. I felt it was my duty as coach and dad to seek comfort from the comforter in front of my daughter as we prayed and gave thanks for the blessings we had. Then, just when I was about finished, Alyssa sounds out with her own heart of gratitude. She says, “And thank you Lord for the six salvations at Judgment House tonight.” You could have knocked me over with a feather. You see, after the loss in the tournament, I had spent the rest of the day sulking about what could have been. I had spent the evening serving God at Judgment House with a careless heart. But my daughter found joy in the midst of loss. And I missed it.
John 14: God teaches me things all the time when I’m paying attention. His Spirit taught me an invaluable lesson that night. Coaching is important and playing games if fine, but sometimes we need a reminder of what is really important in life. Seeing a soul saved from eternal judgment is so much more important than winning a trophy that will tarnish in the years to come. Thank you Lord for the six salvations that night. And thank for showing my daughter what really matters in life. Have a blessed day! Your Servant, <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< Prayer Requests (and Praises!) If you have a prayer request and would like to see it here, please drop me an email so we can share with others. “First of all Randy let me tell you that your emails are a blessing to me!!! I enjoy getting them so much!!! I
have a prayer request. My father-in-law (a very ungodly man) is very sick with
leukemia and has lost his sight. I prayed that he would change his ways but so
far he has not. If anything his ugly and hurtful words have gotten worse. First
of all I pray that he will find salvation and peace. However, I also need
prayer in this case. I need God to give me love for this man. I am praying
that I can see him as God sees him and love him. It is very hard as his cruelty
has really hurt me deeply but I know that I need to get past all that and just
love him. Please pray for me in this situation as I am experiencing so much
guilt. But most of all please pray for his salvation more so than healing!!!
Thank you so much. “I would like to add Kim
Bowden to the prayer list. She is a single mom with 3 young children who just
discovered she has Hodgkin’s lymphoma and will be spending the early part of
this holiday season on chemotherapy. Please pray that God will be with her and
her family during this difficult time. Thank you!! “Dear Randy Hunt, “hi I’m Egyptian Christian I lost god [I need help badly] my name Wael Samy 19yrs” Please reply if you have prayer requests, comments or simply need an open ear. I always enjoy hearing from you. <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< Copyright © 2004 Truth Works Publishing. All rights reserved.
