Plugged In I tell you the Truth, Welcome back to school! I pray that I’m finding you all well this fall (yeah, I know it’s still summer, but let’s just pretend). I’m terribly excited at what God is doing locally, here in Beckley, WV. More about that later! First, let’s get plugged in! Have you ever noticed that electrical appliances and machines just don’t seem to work as well if someone pulls the plug? Perhaps that’s pretty goofy to even mention, but I’ve read some of those “trouble shooting guides” and typically, that’s one of the first things the manufacturer will ask you to check. Being plugged in means being connected to the source of energy that is needed to make the contraption work like it’s supposed to. Unplugged, the purpose of the machine is unattainable. But when you plug it in, you give it the power it needs to realize its potential. And when you think about it, we’re not much different. As a Christian, I need to be plugged in, powered up and connected to the source. For young adults, particularly young college students, it’s paramount that we find the power in order to function spiritually. On campus, there are typically a few places for you to get “plugged in.” Whether it’s FCA, Campus Crusade for Christ, Baptist Student Unions or any of the many Christian ministries available to you at school, you need to find the one that God is leading you to and get involved. If you’re a freshman on campus, do it now! Pray about it now and then start seeking God’s will in finding the right place for you to plug in. If you don’t, I can promise you that you will not be spiritually equipped to handle the rigors of college life. So don’t put it off, get plugged into a group of believers and don’t give up like some others.
Hebrews 10:25 With that said, I’d like to ask you to pray about a current movement of God. After years of praying about how God might use our college group at my home church to reach out to our local school (Mountain State University), God has suddenly and smoothly opened a variety of doors in the past two weeks. The result is a free out door concert being held at the college to promote on campus ministry and to find leadership that might possibly result in a Campus Crusade organization at MSU. I’ve been amazed in the past week at how effortlessly this event has been shaped, how the timing has been so perfect and how God has involved so many new people in my life so unexpectantly. I stand amazed and humbled as I’ve seen God’s hand at work. So I ask two things today. If you’re away at school, get plugged in ASAP. And please join me in prayer as we focus on MSU and the spiritual needs of the student body.
Your Servant, Prayer Requests (and Praises!) If you have a prayer request and would like to see it here, please drop me an email so we can share with others. Please pray for Mountain State University and for the future of all on-campus ministries. -Randy Please reply if you have prayer requests, comments or simply need an open ear. I always enjoy hearing from you. <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< Copyright © 2007 Truth Works Publishing. All rights reserved.
