FALLING SHORT I tell you the Truth, How do you get to heaven? If you stood on a street corner, you’d hear a mired of answers. The world will feed us answers such as “be good to others,” “do more good than bad” or “just be a good person.” It’s unfortunate that many place their eternity on such principles, which are not just worldly answers, but also the theology of many false religions. It’s unfortunate because no one – not you, not I, not anyone can live up to anything close to being “good enough” to enter into the presence of a holy God. The mere ideology that we can do enough to inherit salvation is the type of theology that creates hopelessness and doubt.
Romans 3 We are all justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Period. I hope you grasp the reality of that “period” today. We are not saved by faith through Jesus and then by becoming a good person. We are not saved by faith through Jesus and then by doing good works. We are not saved by faith through Jesus and then by praying and reading the bible and faithfully attending Sunday school at 9:45 sharp. We are not saved by faith through Jesus with any additions. That type of theology says, “Thank you Jesus for doing all you could do on the cross. Now let me do the rest.” Jesus Christ announced that, “It is finished.” There is nothing to add. It’s a hopeless mindset to think that we can earn even a sliver of our own salvation. It is by grace through faith that we are saved. If you find yourself discourage because your good works don’t seem to add up to enough to save you, then stop. If you’re discouraged that you’re not good enough to deserve the love of God, then stop. Our works, our deeds, our obedience is not a payment or obligation owed back to God for what He’s done for us no more than Jesus dying on the cross with the expectation that we would all pay Him back for His suffering. We obey God simply because we love Him and His word brings us life more abundant and free. We do good works as the result of our love, not as a condition. I encourage you to leave the discouragement of trying to work for your salvation today. You’ll continue to fall short. Accept the work that Jesus has already completed. Find the joy in serving Him only because He is God and worthy of our obedience. Then, and only then, can you understand what life more abundant and free truly means. Your Servant, <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< <*))))))< Prayer Requests (and Praises!) Please pray for the salvation of those on the salvation list today. God is anxious to hear the prayers of His people. Please reply if you have prayer requests, comments or simply need an open ear. I always enjoy hearing from you.
