TOGETHER YOKED

I tell you the Truth,

Welcome back!  Today we look further into being yoked with Christ and the reason that God wants us to lay down our burdens.

<*))))))<   <*))))))<   <*))))))<   <*))))))<   <*))))))<

When we allow Christ to walk with us daily, we become stronger, more agile and full of life.

Laying down the baggage that we carry brings on many good things.  Our faith will increase as we allow God to handle things.  Our joy becomes complete as we trust God to handle things.  And our lives become free so that we are not dragged down by the things of this world.

But there is another reason why GOD wants my load to be light.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.  If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.  And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

God desires to lighten our load not only for our own good, but also for the good of others.

Unless we experience the grace and mercy of a God who will pick us up and carry us during the trials of life, we can’t effectively share that grace and mercy with others.

So often, God allows us to endure trials in life to prepare us to help someone else who will have a similar need of comfort down the road.

But unless we lay our burdens down and receive the grace, the mercy, the strength and the power that God has for us in the midst of our trials, we will not know how to help our brother and sister in need.  And helping doesn’t necessarily mean that you and I can help them.  It means that we know how to point them to the help.  We need to be helped ourselves in order to show others how to receive that same help.

As the popular song goes, we are the body.  We are connected, one to another, through the person of Jesus Christ.  We function as one in the Spirit.  And God’s desire is for us to strengthen one another, to care for one another and to reach out to one another.

For that reason, we must lay it all down, day in and day out.  Don’t carry the burdens.

God’s children are to be full of joy.  That joy is a life free of this world.  And a large part of that joy comes from serving others.

So lay it down, won’t you?  And don’t pick it back up.  But if you do pick it back up, lay it down again.  And again.  And again.

Press on friends.  The journey is just starting, so lay it all down and walk lightly with Him.

Your Servant,

Randy Hunt

Prayer Requests (and Praises!)

Remember some friends of mine today:
Tammy’s husband, who continues to suffer with heart problems.
Roger’s dad is recovering in a nursing facility and is in his 90’s.
A young friend is dealing with some tuff life issues.
My father in law is again hospitalized with fluid around the heart – and also recently turned 90 years old.

Please reply if you have prayer requests, comments or simply need an open ear. I always enjoy hearing from you.
