LET THERE BE LIGHT I tell you the Truth, Today’s devotion is taken from a message I gave last Wednesday night for our youth. It shows once again that all of God’s creation proves His word as truth. In the beginning, God created. And on the first day, He created light. Light is an awesome thing to consider. It travels 186,000 miles per second and is the straightest line in God’s nature. I’ve also discovered that there are three ways we can control light. Let’s look at how we’re able to control it. *Light can be reflected. We can make light bounce back by focusing it on a mirror. The light returns to where it came from. *Light can be refracted. We can make light bend by sending it through objects such as a prism. The light still passes through, but it bends and twists. *Light can be blocked. We can stop light by putting up a solid object. Light is absorbed and simply stops. God’s word also describes another light in the world.
John 8: Jesus is the light of the world. Without Him, we walk in darkness. We can’t see truth, we can’t discern right from wrong. In reality, without Christ, we’re lost in the dark. And just like natural light, we can control the light of Christ in our own lives. We can reflect the light of Christ before it enters. People who reflect the light put up mirrors when they hear the truth. It makes them comfortable because others think you have the light, but it’s only a reflection. And when this person goes back into the darkness, they have no light inside. We can refract the light of Christ as it tries to enter. People who refract the light bend it and twist the truth. They hear what they want to hear and justify their own actions according to how they bend the truth. We can block the light of Christ before it enters. People who block the light simply do not want to hear truth. They totally deny the truth. They prefer no truth at all. They like the darkness. In some way, all three ways result in a similar situation. Here is the verdict.
John 3: I pray you do none of the above, yet each of us control the light to a degree in our own lives. Here is what my prayer is for you today. Don’t try to control the light. Allow the light in. Just like opening the shade to you windows in the mornings, simply pull back the object that is blocking, refracting or reflecting the light. You don’t have to beg light to come it. It simply flows when the window is uncovered. Pull back the blind today. Let the light of Christ penetrate. And before you know it, that same light begins to glow in you. It’s not a reflection of Jesus. It is Jesus. It is His light in you that others see. Pull back the blind. Won’t you? Your Servant,
