APRIL FOOL I tell you the Truth, Depending upon when you read this message, you’ve either already heard it a hundred times or you’re about to hear it- “April fools!” With two kids in my house, the April fools jokes won’t stop until mid May. While kids like to have fun on April fools day with an onslaught of jokes, being a fool is not really a funny matter.
Psalm
14: Boy, the last thing I want to be considered is a fool, especially with the definition we just read. Hey, after all, I’m a Christian and I do believe that there is a God, so being a fool shouldn’t be a worry for me anyway, right? Well, maybe I do believe there is a God, but that’s not exactly what the Psalmist said. David is not pointing towards the brain, but to the heart. The heart is a different matter. The heart does not simply believe. The heart sends the belief through the body. In other words, David is saying that the fool lives and acts like there is no God. And he doesn’t stop there.
2The
LORD looks down from heaven No one. Not even one? Is he talking about me? Maybe. From God’s righteous perspective, we all fall short of His glory. We try in the flesh to do right, but we are corrupt. We are born corrupt. We are born fools. But don’t despair because while we are certainly fools, there is hope.

Corinthians 1: As a child of God, saved by the blood of Jesus, I change from a fool in the world to a fool in front of the world. While I was once a fool for not following Christ, my faith in Christ now makes me foolish from the world’s view.

Corinthians 4: While I may be a fool for Christ, I’m still imperfect. And quite often I fall for the foolish things of this world, becoming again a fool of the world. It doesn’t take long for me to think about all the foolish things I’ve done. Take any normal day and consider how foolish we live sometimes. Every day, every moment, I make decisions. Some decisions are simple- “Do I turn left or right?” Some may seem simple, but may result in a foolish decision- “I’ve got twenty bucks and I want that new CD. Hmmm? What should I do?” Some are not simple at all and can definitely result in a foolish decision- “Wow, that looks like a great time. Should I party or should I go home?” The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." If all our choices in life were based on this thought alone, how do you think it would affect our decisions? Do I make daily decisions as if there is no God? Have I ever prayed about the choices before making the decision? Do I make decisions that conflict with God’s word? Let me encourage you today to seek God in the choices you make this week. Consider the fool who says, “There is no God.” Don’t be a fool for the world. Be a fool for Christ. Your Servant,
